So. It was awesome going to Ron's Fine Art Taxidermy last Wednesday. I get to go again Monday if I want, and maybe some time next week. I plan to find as many references for my work as possible. I still need to get paid from my idiot friend so I can get a pelt and a form.

Anyway. Super happy I get to go watch him do his work. Though, I got to help a little bit on Wednesday. I helped himg et it on the mount, dry it and even brush it down. I just hope he'll let me do a little more work soon. I hope to try doing some work soon so I can be of some use to him.

I got some scrap Elk hide from the mount we worked on, so I might post a picture or two of the big parts. See you later!

I have officially learned a few things from this tail failure. Do not sew the tan up before washing. Probably don't sew it up at all, it might ruin the character. But if you want to mount it for whatever reason, sew it.

Other than that! I start my first day of internship at Ron's Fine Art Taxidermy in Payete tomorrow at 8 AM! WOOT! I'm super happy. Anywayyyy..

Soo.. I had my first tail Casualty today... My poor guy, I loved him so much too. I tried to follow some directions I found online that a friend posted to clean him. Unfortunately... After I soaked him and washed his fur wif shampoo, I proceeded to dry him with a hairdryer on low and cool. Anddd... then brush him out. And unfortunately, the end of his tail fell off.


I was so sad.. because he was so cute. On the picture in my gallery, he's the small one with the black spiral stripe.. Loved him. After he sits for a day or so, I'm going to see if i can sew his tail back on... But I don't know. Anyone have any suggestions on what i might have done wrong?
